Max Zhou – IChO ’25, MIT ’30

Hi, I’m Max, an incoming freshman at MIT. Ever since I was young, I have greatly enjoyed studying in many STEM fields, such as math, physics, coding, and especially chemistry. I have participated in various Olympiads, most notably IChO 2025 where I earned a gold medal for the US team. I am also a USABO Silver Medallist (Top 8 in US), USAPhO Honorable Mention, and multiple time AIME qualifier.

Aside from Olympiad problems, I enjoy doing research at USC with Dr. Wei Wu’s group and reading organic chemistry total syntheses. I have several fun projects as well, including a chemistry Rubik’s cube and a smart fan to reduce energy usage.
